Biography 🔗

Syed Ali Raza Zaidi, is an Associate Professor at the School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, University of Leeds, where he serves as Theme Lead for Communications and Sensing. He co-leads the UK’s National 6G Hub, CHEDDAR, funded by the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology, and leads the Hub’s Mobile World Congress 2025 demonstration. He is also a member of the Academic Advisory Board for UK Telecom Innovation (UKTIN) and Principal Investigator of the AI Security Institute research programme on Agentic AI and its safety for telecoms.

He was the winner of the inaugural Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) KubeCon Global Hackathon in 2024 and has delivered keynotes at leading IEEE conferences and international 6G summits. His current research focuses on Generative AI and Agentic AI for Telecommunications. His collaborative work with Jordan was featured by the Royal Academy of Engineering as one of the “Projects of the Decade” under the Transforming Systems through Partnership Programme, and his research on GenAI was highlighted by NVIDIA at Paris GTC.

Beyond AI and telecom, he leads the EPSRC Programme Grant on Pipebots, recognised globally as a world-leading innovation in underground asset monitoring. The STFC Food Network+ showcased his work on Connected Robotics for Agriculture, and he is a co-lead for the EU-Robotics Topic Group on Connected Robotics.
